Dr Phoebe Brown is an emerging choreographer working interdisciplinary with dance and complex mathematics, based between Belfast and Limerick. Phoebe takes influence from chaos systems, complex mathematical systems and geometry that can be embodied by choreography. Her choreography is rooted in numeric scores and finding the balance between linearity and humanity.
In January 2025, Phoebe was in residence at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre where she developed feature-length performance Swing 2.0. Funded by The Fenton Arts Trust, Swing 2.0 is to premiere in Newry, May 2025. She presented her work in progress choreography at Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford, The Mac, Belfast in 2024. Her film of Swing 2.0 was presented at Bridges Arts Festival in Canada. Phoebe has a PhD in Arts Practice under the supervision of Dr Jenny Roche and Dr Grant McLay, an MA in Philosophy, First Class BA(hons) Dance and award for outstanding performance in her graduating year. Phoebe has performed and presented in projects at Wayne McGregor Studios, Malmö, Kent, London, Berlin, Latvia, Lincoln and ICLC conferences in Madrid, Limerick, Brighton.
