Dr Phoebe Brown is an emerging choreographer and dance artist working interdisciplinary with dance and complex mathematics, based in Ireland. Phoebe takes influence from chaos systems, complex mathematical systems and geometry that can be embodied by choreography. Her choreography is rooted in numeric scores and finding the balance between linearity and humanity.

 

In January 2025, Phoebe was in residence at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre where she developed feature-length performance Swing 2.0 funded by The Fenton Arts Trust. Swing 2.0 premiered as a work in progress at Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford and The Mac, Belfast in 2024. Phoebe has a PhD in Arts Practice (2024) under the supervision of Dr Jenny Roche and Dr Grant McLay. Her doctorate focused on using complex mathematics to create process performance. As a dancer, Phoebe has performed at Wayne McGregor Studios, ICLC conferences: Madrid, Ireland, β€˜The’ Conference: Sweden, London, Berlin, Latvia, Brighton, Lincoln.
